| INTRODUCTION |
| |
|
This module is recommended for individuals who will be assessing patient/clients for exercise or will be directly involved in exercise supervision. There is extensive reading, but individual sections are identified for those seeking only specific areas. It will also be an essential and strongly recommended module for anyone preparing for ACSM certification.

| |
| LEARNING OBJECTIVES |

|
THE LEARNER WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Learn to risk stratify patients into those who can exercise safely on their own, those who require supervision, and those that exercise would be contraindicated.

Leonard has now been home for a week and he cannot remember any instructions about how much activity
he should attempt. He has lost his activity guidelines handout and is contacting you for help.
He knows that he should start exercising and is ready to start walking. Using the initial history
and hospital data, what advice would you give Leonard at this time and how might you follow up his
progress and advise him on his exercise program?
